Earth Day at Morikami Park Elementary School April 22, 2010
The Stormwater And Me public education program was asked to participate in the Morikami Park Elementary School Earth Day event on April 22, 2010, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Angela Bailus (City of Delray Beach and a member of the public education sub-committee) teamed with Jennifer Buce (another Delray Beach employee) to provide a successful event experience. Angela and Jennifer set up a Stormwater and Litter Prevention booth and created a “Solve the Mystery Phrase” game for the students. The game involved informational posters placed around the school grounds containing clues that each student could find. As the students filled out the answer sheet, solving the mystery phrase, they would come back to the booth to pick up their rewards. The rewards were assorted materials provided by the MS4 NPDES public education program, the Solid Waste Authority, and the City of Delray Beach. The following stormwater education materials were given away:
- 37 Stormwater And Me stickers
- 85 Stormwater And Me key chains (parents participated)
- 60 Stormwater And Me note pads
Our thanks to Cindy Papadoyianis (of the Morikami Park Parent Association and the Boca Raton Green Living Task Force) for inviting us to participate.
