Earth Day Celebration at Publix Greenwise Market April 22, 2010
The Stormwater And Me public education program was asked to participate in the Public Greenwise Market Earth Day Celebration on April 22, 2010, from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m., at the Palm Beach Gardens location. Ivette Leiva (FDOT) and Tony Puerta (City of Boca Raton), both members of the Stormwater And Me public education sub-committee, staffed the event. During the time there, the following stormwater education materials were distributed:
- 24 of each pamphlet
- 24 tote bags
- 13 note pads
- 14 key chains
- 4 stickers

Debris can be harmful to wildlife
Nutrients (from leaves, grass, fertilizers, pesticides and herbicides) can lead to fish kills and excessive amounts of algae in the water
Bacteria (from pet waste and dead animals) can produce health concerns
Sediment can reduce the system's ability to handle potential flooding and adversely affect aquatic organizms
Chemicals, oils, and paints can be toxic to plants and animals
